BACKUPS ARE IMPORTANT

It is important to have a backup of your wallet. It ensures that your funds can be recovered even if you lose your device or it breaks. By default, the BitBox02 creates a backup on a microSD card.

As an additional option, some users prefer to create an analog backup by writing down 24 recovery words. This backup option follows the Bitcoin standard BIP39 and can be restored using any Bitcoin wallet.

With our high-quality backup card, you can be sure that your analog backup will stand the test of time and can be easily restored.

CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS

Writing down the 24 recovery words is not a very intuitive process and must be done with certain precautions. The same goes for recovery: you or someone else may need to restore your wallet in the distant future. Short, concise instructions are an essential part of our backup card and help make this process as safe as possible. We have included web links to additional information and help in case you have any questions.

AGING-RESISTANT

A backup must remain usable in the long term. We use high-quality, age-resistant fine cardboard that is chlorine-free and acid-free. It is sourced from a specialty paper manufacturer with over 100 years of experience.

STABILITY

Our 270gsm fine card stock, used in three layers with the outer envelope and backup insert card, makes for a solid backup card.

LAMINATING PROTECTION

The included cold lamination card provides important protection against moisture and physical wear and tear and does not require a laminator.

Please note that the lamination is not designed to be protected from physical access or tampering, therefore a tamper-evident security pouch can be used to store the backup card.
